Seven decision checks
The result separates technology, arithmetic, pre-grant clarity, grant labelling, MCS wording, additional works and the temporary uplift.
RECONCILE THE PAPERWORK
A grant deduction should make the quotation clearer
The customer should be able to see the complete project price, eligible grant amount and resulting payment without treating public support as a retailer discount.
Start before the deduction
Require the VAT-inclusive project price before grant, then identify the exact scheme and amount as a separate line. A quotation that shows only a net figure prevents comparison with non-grant work and alternative installers.
Check the eligible technology
The proposed system, property and installer route must fit the in-date official rules. Marketing language such as 'grant included' is not evidence of eligibility, reservation of funds or scheme approval.
Separate additional work
Electrical upgrades, emitters, hot-water changes, access, making good and optional equipment should be itemised. Ask whether each cost is included in the eligible project, outside the grant, provisional or excluded.
Limit: The checker tests arithmetic and visible wording against a dated ruleset. It cannot approve funding, verify an installer submission or determine eligibility from a quotation alone.
