MODEL-NUMBER CHECK

Search the reviewed UK dataset

Copy the brand and model exactly from the rating label. Add the serial or batch when available.

DECISION SUPPORT

A no-match result is the start of the check

Product-safety notices can identify an exact model, a model family, a batch or a serial-number range. Names used by retailers may differ from the rating plate, and a second-hand unit may have been re-labelled or imported. Enter the model exactly as printed on the appliance, then confirm any possible match on the official notice before acting.

Find the rating plate

Switch the appliance off if it appears damaged, overheats, smells unusual or has a suspect cable. Locate the model, serial and batch details without dismantling the unit. Photograph the plate so spaces, suffixes and similar characters are not lost when searching.

Read the notice scope

An official record explains the affected identifier, hazard, corrective action and responsible business where known. A model-family match is not proof that every unit is affected. Equally, a missing result in CoolCompare is not proof that no notice exists.

Follow the official action

Use the contact and remedy stated in the current official notice. Do not keep using a product when the instruction says to stop, and do not attempt electrical or refrigerant repairs yourself. Preserve purchase evidence and the appliance identifiers.

Use the result in this order

  1. Copy the complete model, serial and batch details from the appliance.
  2. Search CoolCompare, then search the complete official OPSS register.
  3. Compare the affected identifier and date with the physical unit.
  4. Follow the official stop-use, return, repair or contact instruction.

What the result cannot prove

CoolCompare contains a manually reviewed subset of official notices and is not the complete UK safety database. It cannot certify a product as safe, diagnose a fault or confirm whether a particular serial number is affected unless the official record provides that scope.
